In his counselling sessions, Dr Clase strives to ensure the enduring happiness and success of young people in their academic and career pursuits. He firmly believes that a combination of academic potential, career interests and personality is a determining factor in deciding on realistic career and study paths.

As a registered Career Development Practitioner with the South-African Career Development Association (SACDA), Dr Clase makes use of the results of reliable evaluation tools and interviews to advise clients. His wealth of experience in the tertiary education environment together with his knowledge and in-depth understanding of the different examination authorities and tertiary institutions in South Africa, add value to the information that he shares with prospective students and their parents/guardians.

Dr Clase is a graduate of the University of Free State and the University of Johannesburg where he obtained the following qualifications: BA (General); Higher Education Diploma, BEd, MEd and DEd in Educational Psychology.

His teaching career trajectory began as Mathematics teacher in 1982 at Welkom Gimnasium in the Free State and was later promoted to School Principal ̶ a position he held for 11 years. Over the course of his career he also served as School Liaison Officer at the Technikon Free State for a tenure of five years.

Dr Clase retired at the end of 2023 as the Senior Assistant Director: Institutional Recruitment in the Department of Enrolment and Student Administration at the University of Pretoria. Realising the pressing need for comprehensive study and career guidance during his employment in the tertiary education sector, he embraced the challenge and remains dedicated making a positive difference in young people’s academic and professional journeys.
